The Book That makes Millionaires by Joe Trevison

One of the great book I sold a lot is this book by Elmer Wheeler: He made famous that saying you see as number 1: “Don’t Sell the Steak –Sell the Sizzle” I first heard of this in about 1960 when I was in undergraduate school, but I did not know of Elmer Wheeler and his great methods. But let me tell you some of his methods right now.

Let me tell more about Elmer Wheeler’s methods.

1. Don’t Sell the Steak-Sell the Sizzle

2. “Don’t Write-Telegraph”

3. “Say it with Flowers”

4. Don’t Ask if-Ask Which!”

5. Watch your Bark!

I am only have time to explain one those and I will show you will see the money in your eyes.

“Selling Pie A La Mode”

He has the Waitresses ask, “Would you care for an order of vanilla or chocolate ice cream on your pie?” The mind of the customer would fluctuate between vanilla and chocolate, not between ice cream and no ice cream. Which she or he decided upon meant a happier customer-and a richer restaurant proprietor.

You have seen this same principle use at McDonalds again and again. And their cash registers go ding ding and ding again and again. The girl or guy asks you will you have fries. And how many times do you say yes. It is the same principle in action in today’s world.

Elmer Wheeler discovers it and Ray Croc used it well. I wonder if Ray Croc read this book, we will never know.
